But the summer beverage aisle is crowded and competitive, and Essentia wanted more than a simple seasonal promotion for their summer campaign. They were looking for a next-level activation to keep Essentia front and center when shoppers reached for water during the year’s hottest months.

The Strategy: An Immersive Sweepstakes Overlay
Working with Brandmovers, Essentia designed the “Change The Equation Summer Sweepstakes” as a dynamic overlay to the existing loyalty program. Instead of a basic “buy-and-enter” tactic, the team created a game-like challenge that rewarded multiple forms of engagement:
- Join – Register or log in to Essentia Nation Rewards program for a free entry.
- Hydration Elevated – Upload up to five receipts for bonus entries.
- Hydration HQ – Complete a fun brand survey.
- Share the Refreshment – Refer a friend to the program.
Each action unlocked entries on a digital Summer Challenge Gamecard, turning ordinary loyalty tasks into an interactive, mobile-friendly adventure.
For eight weeks, members and new recruits were invited to Hydrate, Elevate, Win for the chance to win great prizes, including a Grand Prize of a luxury New York City wellness getaway, complete with professional training session and an Essentia-branded wellness kit.
Clear calls-to-action on the Essentia Nation Rewards website and across social channels encouraged sign-ups and receipt uploads, while the tiered prize pool kept excitement high from day one to the final drawing.
